Sentencing date expected soon in burglary case

A sentencing date for a Hamilton man represented by Toronto criminal lawyer Corbin Cawkell is expected soon.

Cawkell, partner with Hicks Adams LLP, is representing the 38-year-old man, who was convicted last month of 10 of 12 burglary-related offences, the Hamilton Spectator reports. Read Hamilton Spectator Story

The accused, who took his 14-year-old son on the three break and enters in May 2010, was convicted of all three along with assault with a weapon, three counts of possession of stolen goods under $5,000, dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident and theft under $5,000, the Spectator reports.

During the August trial, Cawkell said none of the eyewitnesses provided adequate description of his client, a heavy-set man with several tattoos.

“The fact none of the witnesses sees what is so obvious is fatal to this case,” the Spectator reported Cawkell saying at the time.
