TORONTO – Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s leading business law firms, has been awarded 2012 “Tax Firm of the Year” for Canada for the fifth consecutive time and 2012 “North America Tax Disputes Firm of the Year” for the second consecutive time. Blakes was also awarded 2012 “Canadian Tax Disputes Firm of the Year.” The awards were presented at the seventh annual International Tax Review (ITR) Americas Tax Awards, held last night at the Essex House Hotel in New York City.
“It is a true honour to be selected Tax Firm of the Year for five years running. And this year, we are particularly pleased that the strength of our tax disputes practice was recognized for two awards,” said Jeff Trossman, Practice Group Leader for the Blakes Tax Group. “These awards confirm the leading role of the Blakes Tax Group in the Canadian and North American tax market.”
The Americas Tax Awards are awarded to firms that demonstrate the most innovative client work in their jurisdictions. Winners are selected based on ITR’s extensive independent research and analysis that reflects input from a broad spectrum of tax directors, peer reviews and detailed analysis. Blakes was nominated in 11 categories, more than any other Canadian law firm, including for Americas M&A Tax Team of the Year, Americas Tax Disputes Firm of the Year and North America Tax Firm of the Year.
