Rafferty appealing murder conviction

Toronto criminal lawyer Joseph Neuberger tells the Globe and Mail that he and his firm have been asked to represent Michael Rafferty in the appeal of his first-degree murder conviction.

Neuberger says Rafferty has applied for legal aid and, “If successful, then he has requested that I and my firm represent him, which we are prepared to do,” says Neuberger, a partner with Neuberger Rose LLP. Read Globe and Mail Story

Rafferty was convicted in May in the slaying of eight-year-old Tori Stafford in Woodstock. An automatic life sentence was imposed, and Rafferty has no chance of parole for 25 years.
