Witnesses were “truth-seekers,” says Hicks
Witness testimony dispelled the Crown’s theory that his client was a gang member and alleged getaway driver from a murder scene, Toronto criminal lawyer Christopher Hicks told jurors in his closing address.
Calling the witnesses “truth-seekers,” Hicks, partner with Hicks Adams LLP, said his client Christopher Sheriffe was an innocent driver who was unaware of his passenger’s murderous intentions.
Sheriffe, 22, has pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge arising from the August 2009 killing of Bishen Golaub, an innocent bystander at a barbecue.
